What is development? A sociological perspective on development 

One of the most important definitions of 'development' can be mentioned which is from Michael Torado:

 “Development must be therefore conceived of a multi dimensional process involving change in structure, attitude and institution as well as the acceleration of economic growth, reduction of inequality and eradication of absolute poverty".

Development can be described as a process in which something gains its absolute potential. However there may raise a number of debates when determining the release of prime potential. Talking about a human body, which particular phase or stage can be termed as developed? Therefore development itself is a vague term and defining it is not simple. Development can be summarized as a process in which an object or an organism is in the process of gaining to gain their natural complete fledged form. It was first used by American president Harry Truman in 1949 AD. 

Different scholars have defined development in their own way on their respective perspectives. Economists say that economic development is the indicator of development; politicians say that, to have a developed nation political freedom plays a very vital rose and so on. This is why development is a multidimensional process which brings change as quoted by Michael Torado. In sociology, development refers to the social change. Development is thus a qualitative as well as quantitative progress.

Self Protection

The world has become more unsecured these days. The news of people getting robbed while walking on the streets or being physically abused is always on the rise. The law and order which is in existence in a society may not have enough resources to cope up with those petty as well as big time crimes. In order to deal with such situations possessing a stun gun could always be very helpful. Stun guns do not injure a human body very seriously but it gives a lot of time to defend and possibly fight until the law and order enforcers arrive at the scene. I am not quite sure if a licence is to be obtained from the authority to possess a stun gun but it is definitely a must have for everyone. In this time when bad people are equipped with real arms and ammunitions, a stun gun would be very handy to deal with such situations if dealt trickily and without panicking. I too am thinking of buying one because the streets are totally silent at nights when I return from work and I have a feeling that someday I too may get into trouble with crooks of the night. Sooner or later I have to have a stun gun for myself.

Gps Tracker

I am too worried about society these days. Everyone seems to be crook and felon when I read newspaper early in the morning. There are a lot of news updates on burglary, thefts and houses broken it at night.  I wonder where we are heading. Last weekend I went to a football match and when the game was over I came to the parking lot and there it was, my helmet stolen. If only I had a gps tracker installed in my helmet, I could have taught him a lesson but it was his day. Now talking about gps tracker, it is one of the best things that technology has brought in for us to deal with the current time. I believe a gps tracker is very handy when it comes to dealing with burglary and kidnapping too. These kinds of crimes are on the rise and a gps tracker could be the mantra to deal with such criminals.

Not only dealing with crimes, a gps tracker is equally handy if it’s used by expedition teams. My country can boast of having the highest mountain in the world and there are several incidents when mountaineers have gone missing. Everyone loves to conquer Mt. Everest and which is why people from all over the world flock in to climb the highest mountain. If from now onwards every climber went up with a gps tracker, it could be very easy to locate them if in anyway something goes wrong.

I believe every trekking agency should have a bunch of gps tracker in order to keep their team safe and sound while on an expedition.
