Heroes Of The Year 2010

CNN pays a tribute to the noblest person on earth once a year in the name of “CNN Heroes of the year”. The title is crowned to one person on earth who would emerge through a lot of considerations and poll. Many noble persons from around the globe can be nominated through different means and getting nominated only is also a matter or pride. The final ten short listed candidates are then left to the world to decide who the most righteous one is.

In this year’s edition, there are ten noble persons of the world who had and still been contributing to the world in a very unselfish manner. After learning the contribution from those ten candidates, the difficulty lies there when it’s hard to determine who the most appropriate person is.

In that short list lies a noble woman from Nepal “Anuradha Koirala” who has been saving and rescuing women young as well as old from being exploited and from human trafficking. The organization run by Anuradha Koirala is named as “Maiti Nepal”. The literal meaning of “Maiti” is the paternal sides of a women or a girl. After being married, a girl adopts her husband’s surname and lives with the later. She starts a new life with new family abandoning her paternal family. So “Maiti” is the name of a paternal relation.

The stories of Maiti Nepal and Anuradha Koirala can’t just be told in a few hours but the contribution that Maiti Nepal has done towards Nepalese society is praiseworthy and noble. Anuradha Koirala is the founder of this organization and thus she has been named among the CNN Heroes of the year.

As getting inducted in the list itself is a very great thing, there emerges only one winner. All the candidates deserve a high level of respect from the world and there wouldn’t be any kind of hard feelings to those well wishers whose favored candidate is deprived of the title.
