A human needs to go through a lot of highs and lows in life. Only some are born with a silver spoon in their mouth. Most of the people have to work hard to earn their living. In this regard, a man in the corner of a street of Lazimpat was seen giving his best to earn some money. On a rainy day, he came with some fire wood and a couple of sacks loaded with maize. In the city, people enjoy having grilled corn and that particular man was selling corns on the street. There were few commoners who would buy his corn while some of those buyers seemed to be his regular customers.
Suddenly it started to rain heavily with hailstones and there was this seller without any roof over him where he was burning some fresh corn. Luckily he had an umbrella but it wasn’t big enough to provide him shelter. His clothes were fully drenched and the rain was harsh at him, he was having a lot of hard time covering his fireplace and at the same time he had to watch his umbrella from burning wood below. At some point he would look up at the sky and I thought he could have been wondering about the rude weather expecting the rain to stop at the earliest.
The whole scene was so painful to watch. Not a single soul could be seen on the streets and not even a single vehicle or any two wheelers but that vendor. And in these conditions a buyer approaching him to buy some maize is beyond anyone’s wildest imaginations. The rain still kept pouring punishing him severely, wetting his sacks and to add more woos to the situation the rain was quite helpful in dowsing the fire and the burning maize. The most cruel thing about all this was that, he couldn’t even leave his properties there and run for the shelter.
The rain then finally stopped after quite sometimes but the scene which I had been watching during the heavy downpour was pitiful. All in all his patience and struggle paid off well as people flocked around his corner to buy corn. I was delighted in the end.
