Drishty

It was some ten years ago when I was in Biratnagar, I had bought an album By Drishty. It was a kind of co-incidence because the album I was looking for was not Drishty’s. Back then I had heard of Shristi a fusion band at a friend’s place and instantly I was very much impressed with the guitar works. I always love hollow guitar works and albums like MTV’s unplugged had always been my favorite. The album was named “made in Thamel where east meets west” and all the numbers were instrumental which has a lot of guitar works. It was and is still very pleasant listening to that particular album.

There in Biratnagar I was desperately seeking that album in all cassette stores, back then compact disks were not in use. The store owner had not heard of the name Shristi and he suggested me it could be Drishty. I was pretty sure of the name of the album that I was looking for but when I did not find it, I decided to get a copy of Drishty.

From then, I have been a Drishty fan however they are not in existence these days. The front man Iman Shah is pretty busy in other stuffs at present but to me Drishti has to be one of the best local albums that I have come across. To be honest, the vocal part is not up to the mark but I being a guitar lover, the riffs, solos and licks are profoundly awesome. In the whole album, the one named “Akriti” is my top favorite and this particular favorite of mine is enough to prove my love towards acoustic numbers.

All in all, in a coincidence I happened to buy a very good album. I still enjoy those songs.
