Miss Nepal

There is yet another obstacle this time around against the beauty pageant. So many groups affiliated to political parties are giving their best to withhold the event. Several of those groups include the so called women intellectuals and diplomats. According to them, these kinds of beauty pageants are merely focused on women exploitation and it has nothing to do with the welfare of womanhood.

How can they possible justify their statements? There are some societies in the rural areas where women are tortured for not bringing in enough dowries, daughters are deprived of education, women have been manhandled with filthy accusation like witches and etc. These diplomats are supposed to ponder over such matters. They aren’t supposed to shout slogans or try to stop events which are purposely organized for the betterment of women. After all beauty pageants are meant for the upgrading of woman hood.

These groups would still have a point of argument. In their opinion, they might think that, these beauty pageant organizers should be doing something against the above mentioned activities where women are dominated and tortured. But the point is that, if those organizers are not capable of controlling those filthy practices, they are still here laying platforms for women in a society.

Looking at the former winners, some might think of what had they done for their society? There may be no specific answers to such questions but undoubtedly those winners have been living their life with pride as they had been crowned the most beautiful lady. Such title in their name itself is a matter of pride.

But the organizers too are determined to organize the event in whatsoever ways. I hereby would like to wish them good luck and may the best participant be crowned Miss Nepal 2008. Good luck to all the contestants as well.
