Moments With Kids

Somewhere near my office a small construction was going on. There were labors working which included men as well as women. A woman was fetching cements and marbles to the masons. There then, on a heap of pebbles a small care free child was playing on her own. She was seen to be running to and fro and occasionally being shouted at by her mother. She was in fact having a great time out in the sun and to add more joy, the bullying mother was too busy to take care of her. All the time in the world was in her hands. I was having a cup of tea just across the road and watching her play. Unlike the kid I befriended while trailing a car, she didn’t have clean clothes and she had stones, pebbles, nails, mud as her toys. I desperately wanted to make her happier by buying her some chocolates but then again my act might provoke her mother or I’d be terribly misunderstood. Therefore I simply watched her away having a great time on her own.

I remember passing the test exams before the final S.L.C. Board exams and it was one of my teacher s who had promised me to buy anything I would ask.
