Doesn't it feel great when a stranger or a foreigner shows up and talk to you in your native language? In fact it is really wonderful to meet some people who greets you in your very mother tongue. Some years back I had such an experience. I don't know what citizen he was but I think he must be a European. It was getting dark and I was hurrying home. On, one of the darkest gully I met a foreigner. He was in deep trouble as he told me that he had been robbed and did not have any money with him. He asked for some money and I gave him some. He was happy and while departing he spoke a phrase in my native language. He said, I love you in my language. I was amazed and felt quite happy at the same time. He never spoke any other words but he had learned to say I love you in my local language.
From this day I thought that learning a sentence or two in other's language is quite good. From then I had learned some words of greet or acknowledgment from other languages. However I haven’t yet learned to say I love you in other international languages but have learned to say hello, how are you in many different local languages. It is great to see the expression on other people’s face when I speak to them in their native language. It is one of the greatest ways of being friendly to people and I bet they will love it.
