There’s a colleague who is a good friend of mine. He is a married guy and has a two or three years old daughter. At present he’s working very hard to give his child a bright future. One after another for every failure, he’s giving his best to assure his daughter a bright future and when this assurance comes into mind it definitely has to be a monetary assurance. I have heard from him, a lot of failures in his life but still he hasn’t lost hope. With the vision of lovely future of his daughter he derives enough motivation to do this and if this failed, he’ll choose that.
One day while we were talking, he told me about all these, his daughter’s future and his endeavours. What struck me was a phrase he mentioned. What he said was, he wanted his daughter to realise how hard he had worked for the daughter. He wished that one day she’ll talk about her dad’s endeavours. At this point, I quickly thought of his parents and him. His parents too would have worked very hard to bring him up but I have never heard of him talking about his parents. In the same way his daughter when grown up would talk about his hard work is no guarantee.
But this ‘no guarantee’ thing should not affect his or our goal. Whether, the offspring recalls their parent’s hard work or not, it is a duty to work hard to bring their children or at least try to reassure their bright future. A universal duty of parents to their child and no one can or should avoid this duty.
