Football In The Weekend

Individual interests differ. Many of the people I know have their own way of refreshing. Every Friday night they would gather and indulge in heavy drinking sessions. They find immense pleasure in getting drunk and discharging their week long tensions and which is why TGIF has become a very popular slogan among people in the last couple of years. There is another class of people who would love to hike in those new areas and spend time in tranquility. I however have a complete different idea of refreshment and its sports. Whether its basketball of football, I love playing them on my weekends which help me a lot to release my tensions.

Last Friday we decided to play a football match with another multinational company in the city the following day. The match could be well termed as corporate match as both the teams were engaged in corporations. I had the opportunity to captain my team and the co-ordinator at the same time. We agreed to play on Saturday in a Police Academy in the morning. Managing an event is not as easy as it sounds and thus I was in doubt that if my team would show up on time. I woke up as usual on Saturday and started surfing football tutorials in the internet which later proved to be quite handy. I was pumped up for the match and received a call from the opposite team’s co-ordinator who happens to be a very close friend of mine for more than half of our lives.

Later when we reached the venue I was really delighted to see my team mates already gathered. I was really excited by then. We entered the field, set up a few plans and started playing. The opposite team were more powerful than us in terms of kicking long range shots and ours was a bit better in terms of technique and stamina. We scored in the first half but they equalized in the second half just before the end of stipulated time. They were happy and so were we. The weekend passed beautifully with thoughts of moments spent in the football pitch.

I love sports and it is the best thing to forget everything else and focus on a single object. When I remain in the football pitch, my only objective would be to score goals or create opportunity and not to concede goals. When my mind would be completely ruined by silly thoughts at other times, football helps me to divert my mind away and concentrate on one particular thing. And the football match played against one of the biggest corporate houses “Coke” helped me spend a smooth weekend. I was somehow able to impress quite a few in the pitch with my commitment and my friends in Baluatar still talks about it. That’s a total worth for giving my best in the pitch.

Had a beautiful Saturday in a long time when I was really disturbed for quite a few days.
