Legendary Guitarist

I never liked lead guitarists in a band who played long boring solos concentrating on playing numerous notes in the shortest possible period. The race is always on and there are guitarists like Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert to name some. I always looked upon a lead guitarist who would focus more on melody rather than speed. The guitarists like Mark Tremonti, Mark Knoffler were and are my favorites. But my thoughts have changed a bit as for now.

After watching the live performance of Deep Purple with Steve Morse my concept has totally changed. I really got inspired by Steve Morse when he did some solos before strumming the A, C and D power riffs of the masterpiece, in the world of heavy metal “Smoke on the water”. I am not sure what I liked the most or which part really influenced me but all in all I loved his solos.

I had only read about Steve Morse and his guitar playing abilities but this is the first time that I saw and heard him playing. He is the purest of all the lead guitarists in the world. However, I can’t ignore Richhie Blackmore as one of the best lead guitarists because it was him who created the masterpiece. Still, Steve Morse is no lesser than Blackmore.
