Nightwish

I always love to buy albums which I have never heard before. This time around when I went to a music store, one particular album caught my attention. It was “Over the hills and far away” by “Nightwish”. I had only heard and read a little about night wish but I had never heard their songs before. So this was a perfect one for me.

After bringing it home, I was a little shocked to hear a female vocal. I love female artistes and I was more than happy with this album. I don’t know, to which genre does night wish belong, but as far as I am concerned, they can be categorized along with Dream Theatre. The music they play could be referred to as progressive rock, however I am not very sure about it. I have read about Dream Theatre and that is why I generalize night wish as a progressive rock band.

Listening to a single album is not sufficient to categorize a band. The particular album that I am listening to right now can be done with some experimentation, still I am not sure. After that I checked out their home page where I discovered that “over the hills and far away” is not the newest album by night wish. Soon after they released this album, the vocalist left and had to be replaced by another female vocalist. I still have to wait and hear night wish with a new vocalist.

The music they play and the vocal combines perfectly. Night wish is a European band is a group of five members. They have already released a couple of albums till date and might be working out on another one.

This European band with a lady vocal, rocks and they are a great band.
