Charles Shobraj In Love (I doubt his love)

Probably there are very few people who know about a serial killer Charles Shobraj. He is convicted of murdering two foreigners some thirty years ago in Kathmandu and is now serving a life term sentence. Charles Shobraj is not the one who gives up easily as he is a wanted criminal in many countries. He has been fighting against the Supreme Court’s decision and is also appealing to the courts trying to prove his innocence. However the administration too does not have strong evidence of him killing two people some thirty years back but the administration has been putting him in prison for coming to Nepal using a fake passport. He strongly hopes of getting free from all the cases and would walk out of the jail within this year.

Now, there’s a twist in Charles Shobraj’s life story. He is desperately in love with a 12^th grade student who happens to be a Nepali. The girl too has pure love for him and is hoping to marry Shobraj. The girl’s name is Nihita who is only twenty years old says she is engaged to already married twice Shobraj who is sixty four years old.

Nihita had once visited Shobraj for an official purpose and that was when both of them fell in love as they both state. The meetings or more precisely dating between them took place no where other than the central jail. It just took some one and a half month before they too decided to get engaged and thus exchanged wedding rings too. It was however a very bold decision of Nihita to tell her mom about the person she is in love with. She took her mom to the jail to meet Shobraj and her mom too was quite impressed and gave them a green signal. Her mom says if both of them are happy, she has no problem of letting her daughter marry a man who is forty four years older and the legislature doesn’t prohibit a twenty years old girl from marrying. Nihita and her mom both don’t want to look back at Shobraj’s past and are quite happy with how and what Shobraj is today.

I salute them for their love, but I find something fishy in this romance. Shobraj’s appearance and presentation could easily deceive Nihita who is just twenty years old and she still has a lot to see and learn about people. Shobraj’s smile and commitment could be a fake one just to free him from jail and go back to his country. The marriage between Shobraj and Nihita is completely ruled out if they try to marry here in Nepal as there are a lot of legislative obligations. In my personal view, it is ok if they two get married and lead a happy life but Shobraj might be just using Nihita for his selfish motives. If that innocent girl faces any bitter experiences in the future after they get married, there’s no looking back and no chance of arresting Shobraj. He has been successfully hiding away from police in many countries and if freed he can not be rearrested. I wish that not to happen though.
