I Forced Him To Accompany Me

Sometimes you are amazingly left alone. You look for friends around you and no one seems to be willing to give you company. I had such an experience a couple of months back.

One of the most talked about Nepali movie “Kagbeni” was due to be released. I was desperately waiting to watch it. I asked every one around me if they would like to go and watch the movie with me. No one ever gave me a positive answer. Finally I decided to go to the theater alone and watch it.

On the way to the theater, I met a boy. There was some kind of bond in between him and me. Every time we used to see each other, we used to discuss about music, lend or borrow music cds and etc. He was quite popular in the neighborhood with his activities like hooliganism, vandalism and bullying. In spite of what he was popular for, he always respected seniors and loved juniors too.

So, when I saw him, I asked him about a CD which he had promised me to lend. He then told me that the CD was in his house and we both went to his home. Upon returning, he asked me to drop him off in the same place where I had picked him. I agreed and took him but I did not stop where I was supposed to. He got a bit surprised and asked me to drop him. I said, “No, we are going somewhere, I won’t stop.” He then questioned me where we were going. I answered “Jay Nepal hall to watch Kagbeni, I could not find anyone to go with me so you’re going with me”. He tried to convince me by saying that he was not interested in watching movies in a theater. I did not stop and kept on moving. I did not have any one with me to go for a movie and in no way I was going to let him go and thus I forced him to the movie.

After watching the movie, I asked him if he liked it. He said he did. Lastly I told him that if another such movie is released, I would be counting upon him for a companion. He then nodded with a positive response.

Yesterday afternoon I was stunned when I heard that he passed away in the morning………
