Shameful Act

There is shameful news in the newspapers again. It is about a woman who had been viciously tortured by her husband. The woman happens to be from India married to a Nepali man. Her husband and his family is regularly torturing her for not bringing enough dowries. Eventually she is beaten up very badly and left in a train station with her children. The picture in the newspaper shows the woman with bruises in her face and plastered elbow. Isn’t this pathetic? Her brother had come all the way from India to lodge a complaint against the man and his family and the arrest warrant has already been issued by the local administration. The main convict, the husband of the woman has been absconding.

There are so many social organizations working for woman which hasn’t been able to make their efforts count. This type of act is still in practice which needs a lot of attention. Arresting the guilt and punishing them is not enough at all. Women who have already faced such bad times can not be compensated with the severest of punishments. Necessary precautions should be taken instantly. It is not about motivating women to shout against such acts or making them bold or educating them, but it’s about educating and teaching men in a society. The one who is regarded as a fairer and stronger of the sexes are ignorant. They seem to be unaware and less responsible towards a society with such filthy practices. Therefore it is necessary for all those social organizations and intellectuals to act now, not by helping women but by creating awareness among men. This kind of problem can not easily be eliminated from a society and might take a long time. But if we don’t act right now, it might take longer than it should have.
